    2020 travels in review

    January 14, 2021 / 4 Comments

As for us all, 2020 was completely different than we expected. We had only one trip abroad to Austria. Other than that we stayed in The Netherlands. Luckily we made some beautiful trips in The Netherlands during the Summer. So here are our 2020 travels from month to month. January Just like in 2019 we started the New Year at friends in Almere. We played board games and watched the fireworks. Our first outing was Uden on Ice with my nieces during Christmas break. Later in the month I went shopping with a friend in Uden, while Paul and Yuri had the day for themselves. The last day of the…

Natural Bridges National Monument: hiking and a snake

    July 9, 2020 / 32 Comments

On a road trip through the southwest USA Paul and I made a stop at Natural Bridges National Monument in Utah. Not one of the large famous parks in the state, such as Arches or Zion, but none the less beautiful and worth a stop on Utah road trips. Definitely one of Southern Utah’s Hidden Gems. Where is Natural Bridges National Monument? Natural Bridges National Monument is located in the southeast of the state of Utah. On the place where the White Canyon and the Armstrong Canyon meet. It’s located south of Moab and east of the Glen Canyon. Some facts about Natural Bridges National Monument Utah’s first National Monument…

A week in Austria: roadtrip itinerary

    April 16, 2020 / 24 Comments

In the Summer of 2016 we spent a week in Austria, during a 6 week European road trip. We had such a fun time, before this week we had only been to Austria in the snow, which is magical on its own. Below I give an itinerary for one week in Austria. Austria is a perfect country for road trips. Where to start a week in Austria We started our week in Austria in Breitenwang. It’s close to the German border and to Füssen, Germany. Füssen is home to the famous Neuschwanstein castle and the Hohenschwangau castle. Both are beautiful and both are among the fairytale castles in Europe, fairytale…

  • To show the color there's in the city center. You see a street at the end is part of a colorful chucrh visible. On the sides are yellow and white plastered houses. There's an olds mobile car parked on the side of the street. Afternoon in Zagreb.

    An afternoon in Zagreb

    February 17, 2020 / 15 Comments

We only spent one afternoon in Zagreb, but loved the inner city. We have to go back someday to explore more of this beautiful city. It doesn’t have the laid-back vibe Ljubljana has, but it has it’s own old city with surprises around corners vibe. Arrive by train for an afternoon in Zagreb We pitched our tent on a campsite on the outskirts of Zagreb. We went into the city center by train. Which is a perfect way to arrive in the city. First you see all those gray monoliths, colossal buildings housing people. This gave the idea of a gray, boring city. But this isn’t the way the city…

    Campsites in Croatia with kids

    February 6, 2020 / 8 Comments

In 2016 and 2017 we spent the Summer roadtripping in Europe, especially The Balkan. The first year we camped most of the time, in 2017 a little less, mainly because of the weather. In the south it was too hot to pitch a tent, let alone sleep in it with 40+ degrees Celsius temperatures. We should have brought a portable solar panel with us, we had so much sun. It would have made some things a lot easier. In 2016 it was our first time roadtripping with a tent. We did it again in 2017, you can say it’s something we love to do as a family. Why, well lot’s…
