Best Family Friendly Campgrounds in Europe

    September 24, 2020 / 20 Comments

When on a road trip through Europe, camping is the ultimate way, especially for families. Kids make friends on campgrounds and there’s usually plenty to do for them. But which campgrounds are best suited for this? I’ve asked my fellow travel bloggers which are the best family friendly campgrounds in Europe. We selected 20 from large campsites to intimate ones. Family Friendly Campgrounds: The Netherlands Camping de Pampel Contributed by Cosette from KarsTravels. Camping de Pampel is a fun campsite in The Netherlands in Hoenderloo on the Veluwe. Our son’s days here were filled with swimming in the pool, jumping on the airtrampoline or bouncy castle. On the campground is…

4 days in Switzerland: camping, mountains and cheese

    April 24, 2020 / 33 Comments

In the Summer of 2016 we had a roadtrip through Europe and Switzerland was included. We hadn’t been there before, but were curious to see the beauty of Switzerland. We had 4 days in total in Switzerland and loved it. Our days were marked by camping, the beautiful mountains, cheese, glaciers and sadly rain. 4 days in Switzerland: itinerary In this blog I describe the route we took on those 4 days in Switzerland. Lots to see and do on the route. 4 days isn’t enough to explore the whole of Switzerland. We roughly followed a route, from Italy to France, through Switzerland and took 4 days for that in…

A week in Austria: roadtrip itinerary

    April 16, 2020 / 30 Comments

Last Updated: July 30th 2024. In the Summer of 2016 we spent a week in Austria, during a 6 week European road trip. We had such a fun time. We had been to Austria before, however it had always been Austria in the snow, which is magical on its own. Below I give an itinerary for one week in Austria. Austria is a perfect country for road trips. Where to Start a Week in Austria We started our week in Austria in Breitenwang. It’s close to the German border and to Füssen, Germany. Füssen is home to the famous Neuschwanstein castle and the Hohenschwangau castle. Both are beautiful and both…

Last Updated: May 3th 2024. France is a beautiful country with diverse regions. One of the perfect ways to explore the large country is to go camping. We stayed at campsite Moulin de la Pique in the varied region of the Dordogne. We loved our stay here. In this blog I describe all there is to do on campsite Moulin de la Pique. The Dordogne is a region in Southwestern France. Campsite Moulin de la Pique A fun campground in the Dordogne with a Dutch owner, who speaks English. The campsite is on an historic estate. Last Updated: January 1st 2025. Since Yuri’s birth, he’s been with us on our travels. We’ve camped around Europe and also a few times in the Netherlands. Most of the time when we’re on vacation in the Netherlands we stay in a holiday rental or a hotel, but luckily there have been a few times over the years the weather was nice enough for camping. Here are the 4 campsites in the Netherlands we’ve stayed at with a tent or campervan and what we think of them. 1. Camping ’t Schinkel The first of the campsites in the Netherlands we visited with Yuri. This fun campsite is in the middle…

    Dreaming about (part-time) van life

    February 7, 2020 / 3 Comments

Those idyllic pictures of people cozying up in their van or just outside their van. Or similarly a picture of a neverending highway, makes me want to hit the road and live the van life. What’s the draw in van life Why am I drawn to this picture of the van life? It’s the idylic of going wherever you wanna go. In theory, you can roadtrip around the World, and since I have a very lenghty bucketlist, that sounds divine. We would have our own place while traveling. A van looks like a payable solution to see the whole world. The cosily feeling of a VW van is appealing. The…

In 2016 and 2017 we spent the Summer roadtripping in Europe, especially The Balkan. The first year we camped most of the time, in 2017 a little less, mainly because of the weather. In the south it was too hot to pitch a tent, let alone sleep in it with 40+ degrees Celsius temperatures. We should have brought a portable solar panel with us, we had so much sun. It would have made some things a lot easier. In 2016 it was our first time roadtripping with a tent. We did it again in 2017, you can say it’s something we love to do as a family. Why, well lot’s…
