Fun times at Disneyland Paris: with and without kids

    June 7, 2020 / 16 Comments

We’ve been to Disneyland Paris three times: once before Yuri was born, in 1999. Back then it was still called EuroDisney. Twice with Yuri in 2014 and 2019. In 1999 we went in the Summer and spent one day at EuroDisney. In 2014 it was a winter visit with an almost 4 year old boy and last time was 20 years after our first visit to Disneyland Paris, again in the Summer. Both visits were 3 days, 2 nights. We’ve enjoyed ourselves every single time. In this blog I will highlight things to do in Disneyland Paris and how our experience was. At the end I will shortly compare Disneyland…

Stopover hotels on the way South

    March 4, 2020 / 4 Comments

When traveling from The Netherlands to Mid-, Southern France or Spain, a stopover hotel comes in handy to break up the long drive. People swear by different options in driving to Southern France or Spain. Some people drive it in one take, others mostly drive at night (less traffic and kids are asleep). We usually opt to drive a small part on the first evening and the rest the next day, or when it’s Spain a second stopover hotel in the South of France. Here’s a list of hotels we’ve tested and liked. A stopover hotel is ideally located close to the highway you’re driving South on. They’re not that…

France is a beautiful country with diverse regions. One of the perfect ways to explore the large country is to go camping. We stayed at campsite Moulin de la Pique in the varied region of the Dordogne. We loved our stay here. In this blog I describe all there is to do on campsite Moulin de la Pique. Campsite Moulin de la Pique A fun campsite in the Dordogne with a Dutch owner. The campsite is on an historic estate. Where to eat in the Dordogne with kids

    February 26, 2020 / 0 Comments

France is a country known for its excellent food. From haute cuisine to croissants, they have it and came up with it. The Dordogne region is no exception to this. But with all the choices, where can you best eat in the Dordogne? Which places are suited for kids? Read on for the restaurants where we ate together with our son and our experiences at those places. Restaurant Maleville/Hostellerie Maleville Our top place to eat in the Dordogne is Hostellerie Maleville in Beynac. Your kid(s) do have to be able to sit here for a while, but you get excellent food. It’s a hotel with a restaurant and they have…

    2019 travels in review

    February 19, 2020 / 0 Comments

We had a good travel year, last year. We traveled in Europe, mostly the western part. We had trips in The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Czech Republic and Spain. Our 2019 travels were fantastic in one word. January We started the New Year with friends in Almere. Playing board games and watching the fireworks. After this we started our 2019 travels with a visit to Uden on Ice our with my sister and nieces during Christmas break. Ice skating and tubing is so fun to do. On a weekend we went to the Open Air Museum in Arnhem, we did the ‘Elfstedentocht’ route. It was a winter only event.…

    2018 travels in review

    February 14, 2020 / 0 Comments

2020 has already started, and we already made some trips. But in this post I want to take you back to 2018. We did a lot of trips, mostly in The Netherlands. It wasn’t the easiest year for us, but we got through it and we were still able to travel. Here are our 2018 travels per month. January A quiet month, we only took 3 trips. With Yuri’s class we went to castle de Haar and had a guided tour here. It was fun and informative. On a good level the kids learned a lot about how the owners have lived in the castle over the centuries. We went…

5 Things to do in the Gorges du Verdon with kids

    February 12, 2020 / 0 Comments

France has so many beautiful regions to explore! A few years ago we visited the Gorges du Verdon region in spring. Our lodgings were at campsite RCN Les Collines de Castellane in the town of  Castellane. The weather was warm already (most days even hot) and there is plenty to do in the Gorges du Verdon with kids. A visit to the Gorges itself is not described in this article. We planned that for the last day of our trip, but since rain was predicted, we weren’t in for a day out on the water. So no Gorges, but a visit to grottes and Grasse that day. Things to see…

    January 30, 2020 / 14 Comments

My very first blogpost on the KarsTravels site! I start with one about France. We visited the Dordogne region in France in spring time. The weather isn’t as hot as it can be in summer and there are plenty of things to do and see. So let me highlight 7 of our favorite outings to go on with kids in the Dordogne, from chateaus to boatrides. Dordoge with kids: a list of fun things to do 1.
