The small city has a beautiful port, old town, delicious seafood and the oldest wooden church in France to offer. Making it a must-visit place and clear why it’s so popular among tourists in France. When asking yourself where is Honfleur in France? And is Honfleur in Normandy? Yes, Honfleur is in Normandy, it’s located on the banks of the Seine, across from Le Havre. Saint Jean de Luz Travel Guide
Saint Jean de Luz is a beautiful seaside town on the Basque Atlantic coast. This old fishing and pirate town is located in Southwestern France, not that far from the Spanish border. It has history, the beach and macarons to offer! If that doesn’t make it a must-visit place, I don’t know what will. We first visited the beautiful town on our Brittany-Acquitaine road trip in 2018. We fell in love with the town and visited it again in 2019 on our Northern Spain road trip. Sadly, we didn’t have time for a visit on our France Spain Portugal road trip. It’s a perfect stop on a road trip in…

A self-guided Paris macaron walking tour
Paris is a fabulous city with so many activities that you can come back again and again and do something different each time. We’ve visited Paris several times, the latest visit was in 2019. That time we undertook a Paris macaron walking tour. Next to visiting the Eiffel tower and Disneyland Paris, this was the highlight of our visit to Paris. Macarons have become extremely popular the last few years, and with good reason. Paris is the place to sample macarons. There are several guided tours to take in Paris on which you get to taste macarons. We however did a self-guided macaron tour, which we loved. Macarons Before we…

Fun times at Disneyland Paris: with and without kids
We’ve been to Disneyland Paris three times: once before Yuri was born, in 1999. Back then it was still called EuroDisney. Twice with Yuri in 2014 and 2019. In 1999 we went in the Summer and spent one day at EuroDisney. In 2014 it was a winter visit with an almost 4 year old boy, a road trip with a toddler, and last time was 20 years after our first visit to Disneyland Paris, again in the Summer. Both visits were 3 days, 2 nights. We’ve enjoyed ourselves every single time. In this blog I will highlight things to do in Disneyland Paris and how our experience was. At the…

Stopover hotels on the way South
When traveling from The Netherlands to Mid-, Southern France or Spain, a stopover hotel comes in handy to break up the long drive. People swear by different options in driving to Southern France or Spain. Some people drive it in one take, others mostly drive at night (less traffic and kids are asleep). We usually opt to drive a small part on the first evening and the rest the next day, or when it’s Spain a second stopover hotel in the South of France. Here’s a list of hotels we’ve tested and liked. A stopover hotel is ideally located close to the highway you’re driving South on. They’re not that…
