Touring the Netherlands: A 7-Day Fletcher Road Trip Haute Cuisine

    September 30, 2022 / 10 Comments

A road trip in your own country is always a good idea, you see more of your own backyard. The last 2 years we’ve been touring the Netherlands a lot and loving it. This time we drove one of the Fletcher road trips, namely the 7-day Haute Cuisine road trip. Promising a road trip with a focus on excellent food. Fletcher is a hotel chain with over 100 hotels in the Netherlands. We drove this route at the beginning of May 2021, when there was still a partial lockdown. This meant museums and so on were still closed. Only terraces of restaurants were allowed to be open (until 6pm). Sitting…

Tulip Route Holland: the Best Goeree-Overflakkee Tulip Fields

    May 4, 2022 / 31 Comments

Last Updated: April 5th 2026. It’s tulip season in the Netherlands! We drove the tulip route Holland on Easter Sunday in 2022. Not as famous as the Flower Route, which is also in the province of Zuid-Holland. Due to it being less popular, there’re less people to share these famous tulip fields with. This tulip route is on Goeree-Overflakkee, an island in the south of the Netherlands. Tulip Route Holland We followed an old route from the ANWB, which they don’t update anymore. You’ll have to make you’re own route here. The following towns and cities are included: Length: +/- 118 kilometers/73 miles. Duration: 3 to 5 hours. Town by…

Last Updated: September 2nd 2025. We had a good travel year, last year. We traveled in Europe, mostly the western part. We had trips in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Czech Republic and Spain. Our 2019 travels were fantastic in one word. January We started the New Year with friends in Almere. Playing board games and watching the fireworks. After this we started our 2019 travels with a visit to Uden on Ice, with my sister and nieces during Christmas break. Ice skating and tubing is so fun to do. On a weekend in the middle of January we went to the Open Air Museum in Arnhem, we did…

Last Updated: July 17th 2025. Although 2020 has already started, and we have already made some trips in 2020. But in this post I want to take you back to 2018. We did a lot of trips, mostly in the Netherlands. It wasn’t the easiest year for us, but we got through it and we were still able to travel. Here are our 2018 travels per month. January A quiet month, we only took 3 trips. With Yuri’s class we went to castle de Haar and had a guided tour here. It was fun and informative. On a good level the kids learned a lot about how the owners have…
