Corendon Village Hotel Amsterdam The Largest Hotel in the Benelux
We stayed at Corendon Village Hotel Amsterdam for a week last Summer in July. There was so much to do and we loved our stay so much that we returned for a week in August. Most restrictions were lifted, however a few were still in place in July and August. So the hotel was not in full practice, but we could try out most of the facilities. This is not a sponsored post, we stayed here at our own expense. So all opinions are, as always, our own. But which are the best cities in the Netherlands to visit when on a trip in this water rich country? I’ve asked my fellow travel bloggers what their favorite city is and as a Dutchie myself I’ve added my favorites. A pleasant stay at NH Hotel Schiphol Airport
We stayed at NH Hotel Schiphol Airport in November and again a few weeks ago. Despite the restrictions we liked our stay. The hotel is only 6 kilometers (3.73 miles) from Schiphol Airport and 20 kilometers (12.43 miles) from the city center of Amsterdam. So a perfect base for exploring Amsterdam and its surroundings. Note that not everything mentioned is now offered, due to the current restrictions. See here our tips for traveling right now. This is not a sponsored post, we stayed here at our own expense. Going to the Little Monsters Ball Hardrock Cafe
Each year we try to do something special for Halloween, last year we attended the Little Monsters Ball Hardrock Cafe in Amsterdam. Halloween is on the rise in The Netherlands. Our son is still too young for haunted houses and fright nights, but luckily there are events suited for kids. Little Monsters Ball Hardrock Cafe The Hard Rock Café organizes a breakfast buffet on Sunday before or on Halloween. Every family had its own table and could get plates full of delicious food. You did have to wait in line before getting to the buffet. The staff was all dressed up for Halloween. The café was also decorated in Halloween…

Fun at Ripley’s Believe It or Not Halloween
Halloween isn’t a holiday that’s originally celebrated in The Netherlands. But more and more events with an Halloween theme are popping up in The Netherlands. We love going to one of these events each year and a few years ago we celebrated Halloween at Ripley’s Believe It or Not in Amsterdam. We had a blast. Ripley’s Believe It or Not Halloween The whole Ripley’s Believe It or Not museum was decorated with cobwebs and other creepy things. This added extra to the Halloween sphere for us. Without the Halloween decorations the museum is already bizarre, but this made it extra special. We came dressed up for Halloween, all 3 of…

Kingsday: My Favorite Dutch National Day
Each year we celebrate Kingsday or ‘Koningsdag’ in The Netherlands on April 27th. It’s a Dutch national day which I love and look forward to each year. Everybody is cheerful and there’s so much to do and see all day. History of Kingsday Since 2014 we celebrate Kingsday. Queen Beatrix abdicated in 2014 and her son became the King. King Willem-Alexander changed the date from April 30th to April 27th. His Birthday and he changed the name from Queensday to Kingsday. April 30th had been the date since 1949, which was the Birthday of Queen Juliana. Queen Beatrix didn’t change the date when she rose to the throne. Out of…

Best cities for shopping in The Netherlands
3 to 4 times a year I go shopping with a friend, we pick a city somewhere in The Netherlands and arrive there by train. We started this in 2013. My son was saying to me “When are you not here?”, not because he had enough of me, but because he thought that on a day with just his dad he could have screen time all day long (luckily that didn’t come true). My friend and I have one city we go to each year, Maastricht, and then a number of cities that rotate. Next to these I have added some cities where I used to go shopping with friends…
