Touring the Netherlands: A 7-Day Fletcher Road Trip Haute Cuisine

    September 30, 2022 / 10 Comments

A road trip in your own country is always a good idea, you see more of your own backyard. The last 2 years we’ve been touring the Netherlands a lot and loving it. This time we drove one of the Fletcher road trips, namely the 7-day Haute Cuisine road trip. Promising a road trip with a focus on excellent food. Fletcher is a hotel chain with over 100 hotels in the Netherlands. We drove this route at the beginning of May 2021, when there was still a partial lockdown. This meant museums and so on were still closed. Only terraces of restaurants were allowed to be open (until 6pm). Sitting…

Corendon Village Hotel Amsterdam The Largest Hotel in the Benelux

    June 23, 2022 / 10 Comments

We stayed at Corendon Village Hotel Amsterdam for a week last Summer in July. There was so much to do and we loved our stay so much that we returned for a week in August. Most restrictions were lifted, however a few were still in place in July and August. So the hotel was not in full practice, but we could try out most of the facilities.   This is not a sponsored post, we stayed here at our own expense. So all opinions are, as always, our own. Location of Corendon Village Hotel Amsterdam Corendon Village Hotel Schiphol is located in Badhoevedorp in the province of Noord-Holland. Badhoevedorop is…

Tulip Route Holland: the Best Goeree-Overflakkee Tulip Fields

    May 4, 2022 / 31 Comments

Last Updated: April 5th 2026. It’s tulip season in the Netherlands! We drove the tulip route Holland on Easter Sunday in 2022. Not as famous as the Flower Route, which is also in the province of Zuid-Holland. Due to it being less popular, there’re less people to share these famous tulip fields with. This tulip route is on Goeree-Overflakkee, an island in the south of the Netherlands. Tulip Route Holland We followed an old route from the ANWB, which they don’t update anymore. You’ll have to make you’re own route here. The following towns and cities are included: Length: +/- 118 kilometers/73 miles. Duration: 3 to 5 hours. Town by…

This Groningen road trip showcases the beauty of the most Northeastern part of the Netherlands, close to the border with Germany. Groningen is both a province and a city in the Netherlands. This road trip concentrates on part of the province, not on the city. So when you ask yourself “Is Groningen worth visiting?”, a simple Yes is the answer, just look at this Eems and Oldambt road trip. Groningen Road Trip We followed the route set out by the ANWB, which you can find here in Dutch. There’s a map…

A Visit to the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision

    April 1, 2022 / 4 Comments

We love visiting museums, our son loves it especially when they’re interactive and have screens. The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision fits right in. A museum fun for both parents and kids. We visited in October 2020, just before the second lockdown in The Netherlands. For Paul and me it was a trip down memory lane with the old tv shows and commercials they showed. For Yuri it was fun due to all the technology, things from his childhood such as YouTube and the interactiveness. We visited just before the museum closed its doors for 2 years to rebuild. Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision Architecture The building of…

Fletcher Hotel Naaldwijk Review of a Great Stay

    March 16, 2022 / 6 Comments

Last Updated: June 19th 2025. We stayed at Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant Carlton in January 2021. Since at that moment there was still a lockdown in place in the Netherlands, we had Fletcher hotel Naaldwijk almost to ourselves. We stayed two nights from the 29th to the 31st and loved our stay, despite limited facilities and everything being closed. Since 2021 this hotel has sadly been closed permanently. This is not a sponsored post, we stayed here at our own expense. So all opinions are, as always, our own. Location of Fletcher Hotel Naaldwijk The hotel is in an area called Westland. In the Midwest of the province of Zuid-Holland is the…

    April 15, 2021 / 53 Comments

Last Updated: May 1st 2025. The Netherlands is known around the world for its beautiful tulips. In Spring, fields of flowers align the fields in the west of the Netherlands. There are several tulip routes throughout the country. We have driven the flower route by car, now 4 years in a row, in the province of Zuid-Holland. A beautiful route with daffodils, tulips and hyacinths. However, the route offers more than just flower fields. There are museums and beach towns along the route. The Flower Route We followed the route set out by the ANWB, which you can find here in Dutch. There’s a map provided on the site. The…
