A Visit to the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision

    April 1, 2022 / 4 Comments

We love visiting museums, our son loves it especially when they’re interactive and have screens. The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision fits right in. A museum fun for both parents and kids. We visited in October 2020, just before the second lockdown in The Netherlands. For Paul and me it was a trip down memory lane with the old tv shows and commercials they showed. For Yuri it was fun due to all the technology, things from his childhood such as YouTube and the interactiveness. We visited just before the museum closed its doors for 2 years to rebuild. A Guide for the Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim

    December 1, 2021 / 8 Comments

The Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim in Germany is a fun and engaging museum to visit. We loved our visit there during our 6 Week European Road Trip. We had driven by this museum already several times on our way to Austria and were curious because we saw planes sticking out above the railing on the highway. The Auto und Technik Museum Sinsheim is a technology museum with a focus on motorized vehicles. Such as cars, planes and trains. The museum is kid-friendly and next to all these objects on display it has an IMAX 3D cinema. Where is it The Auto Technik museum is located in Sinsheim, Germany. It’s…

A Pleasant Stay at NH Hotel Schiphol Airport

    March 30, 2021 / 26 Comments

Last Updated: April 10th 2025. We stayed at NH Hotel Schiphol Airport in November 2020 and again in March 2021. We liked our stay, the first time, hence the return a second time a couple of months later. The hotel is only 6 kilometers (3.73 miles) from Schiphol Airport and 20 kilometers (12.43 miles) from the city center of Amsterdam. So a perfect base for exploring Amsterdam and its surroundings. This is not a sponsored post, we stayed here at our own expense. So all opinions are, as always, our own. The Room(s) at NH Hotel Schiphol Airport NH Hotel Amsterdam Schiphol Airport has 419 rooms, divided over 7 different…

    2020 travels in review

    January 14, 2021 / 4 Comments

As for us all, 2020 was completely different than we expected. We had only one trip abroad to Austria. Other than that we stayed in The Netherlands. Luckily we made some beautiful trips in The Netherlands during the Summer. So here are our 2020 travels from month to month. January Just like in 2019 we started the New Year at friends in Almere. We played board games and watched the fireworks. Our first outing was Uden on Ice with my nieces during Christmas break. Later in the month I went shopping with a friend in Uden, while Paul and Yuri had the day for themselves. The last day of the…

Going to the Little Monsters Ball Hardrock Cafe

    October 12, 2020 / 18 Comments

Last Updated: October 22nd 2025. Each year we try to do something special for Halloween, in 2019 we attended the Little Monsters Ball Hardrock Cafe in Amsterdam. Halloween is on the rise in The Netherlands, and has numerous events happening now each year. Our son was at that moment still too young for haunted houses and fright nights, but luckily there are events suited for kids. Little Monsters Ball Hardrock Cafe The Hard Rock Café each year organizes a breakfast buffet on the Sunday before or on Halloween itself. Every family had its own table and could get plates full of delicious food. You did have to wait in line…

Fun at Ripley’s Believe It or Not Halloween

    October 9, 2020 / 51 Comments

Last Updated: October 22nd 2025. Halloween isn’t a holiday that’s originally celebrated in the Netherlands. But more and more events with a Halloween theme are popping up in The Netherlands. In fact there’s plenty of choice nowadays in Halloween events. We love going to one of these events each year and a few years ago we celebrated Halloween at Ripley’s Believe It or Not in Amsterdam. We had a blast. Ripley’s Believe It or Not Halloween The whole Ripley’s Believe It or Not museum was decorated with cobwebs and other creepy things. This added extra to the Halloween atmosphere for us. Without the Halloween decorations the museum is already bizarre,…

Krka National Park: Waterfalls, Swimming and Hiking

    October 8, 2020 / 36 Comments

Last Updated: February 17th 2026. Krka National Park has it all: beautiful nature, hiking and swimming opportunities, architectural, historical and archeological sites. We visited the Krka National Park in Croatia on a road trip in 2017 during a hot summer. So the swimming part was very welcoming to us. Sadly, as of 2021, swimming near the waterfalls is prohibited. Where is Krka National Park? Krka National Park is in Dalmatia in Croatia. To be exact in the northern part of Dalmatia, near Lozovac and Skradin. It’s close to Šibenik. From Šibenik to Krka National Park is 15 kilometers, about 20 minutes by car. Zadar is an hour driving with 76…

    October 1, 2020 / 61 Comments

Last Updated: March 25th 2025. De Hoge Veluwe National Park is a park I used to go to with my parents during our vacations on the Veluwe. I have good memories of exploring this area. The beautiful nature of heathlands, sand drifts and forests. Later on I went to the Kröller-Müller museum with high school and admired the art collection. Recently Paul and I went with our son to the park. It was just as beautiful as I remembered. Where is De Hoge Veluwe National Park? Het National Park de Hoge Veluwe is in the province of Gelderland in The Netherlands. It’s between the cities Arnhem, Ede and Apeldoorn. So…
